I have worked as a designer/illustrator in the entertainment industry for over 13 years. From my start as a graduate of the University of Southern California school of Architecture, I have used the foundational design skills and combined them with the latest digital applications to extend my artistic capabilities.
I can not only give you a working knowledge of photoshop CS5, CS6, & CC6, but also how to export/ import files between photoshop and other Adobe products such as AfterEffects, Premier, and Flash and use the entire suite of Adobe products to create professional work any artist would be proud of.
My tutoring for Algebra 1 addresses all of the California state standards for secondary Math. I am most highly qualifed in algebra 1. Some of the concepts covered are:
Writing algebraic expressions, the properties of rational numbers, Solving equations with one and several variables, the laws of exponents, writing linear equations, solving systems of equations, graphing systems of equations, graphing linear equations, factoring polynomials, solving quadratic equations, graphing quadratic equations.
I have experience teaching Intermediate Algebra (Algebra 2) to high school students both as a classroom teacher and a tutor. Although I teach to California State standards, I emphasize understanding of the concepts as well as their application to math problems. I go over examples of math problems that Algebra 2 students should understand and explain the solutions step-by-step. As a tutor I make sure students understand all the concepts they need to master, identifying common mistakes and misconceptions as they become evident to insure that the students are supported in their learning. Whether helping students understand homework questions or helping explain material that will be on a test I provide all of the attention and care needed for my clients to master Algebra 2. Concepts covered include: Rational Expressions, Polynomials, Quadratic Equations, Matrices, Radical Expressions, Imaginary and Complex Numbers, Logarithims and Exponential Functions.
I graduated from USC with a degree in Architecture. I have worked as a draftsman, model-maker, designer and illustrator. I have worked for Walt Disney Imagineering, Landmark Entertainment, Warner Brothers and other Film companies. I know how to draw and paint concept art, design development drawings, draft, do perspective drawings, to name some of my skills. I also know how to work in digital media such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. Through my education and work experience I possess the know how that will help art or design students develop their drawing and presentation skills.
I have experience teaching Geometry to high school students both as a classroom teacher and a tutor. Although I teach to California State standards, I emphasize understanding of the concepts as well as their application to math problems. I go over examples of math problems that Geometry students should understand and explain the solutions step-by-step. As a tutor I make sure students understand all the concepts they need to master, identifying common mistakes and misconceptions as they become evident to insure that the students are supported in their learning. Whether helping students understand homework questions or helping explain material that will be on a test I provide all of the attention and care needed for my clients to master Geometry. Concepts covered include: geometric proofs, The properties of parallel and perpendicular Lines, The properties of triangles, similarity and congruency of triangles and polygons, Trigonometry, The areas and perimeters of geometric figures, surface areas, and volume of 3-dimensional objects, Transformations.
I have taught Pre-Algebra both as a classroom teacher and a tutor. I pay particular attention to promoting the student's understanding of basic mathematical concepts that are indispensable to understanding Algebra 1 and more advanced math. Many times I have addressed the students misconceptions about key skills and concepts by explaining step-by-step and going over examples of solutions to math problems they encounter in their classwork and homework. As a tutor I by make sure that they can understand and solve basic math problems on their own.
I have tutored students for the SAT numerous times as a teacher. By going through sample questions I can prepare any student by familiarizing students not only with the math concepts but also what the test is asking for in each question. Test strategy is as important as content knowledge when taking the SAT that is why I try to examine as many sample questions as possible. I can help students evaluate and identify key math concepts and review them step by step if required for the student to be prepared. My knowledge of the SAT and math in general as well as my methodical approach to test preparation will give any of my students the confidence and knowledge he or she will need to score proficient or advanced on the SAT.
I am fluent in Spanish, having spoken it since childhood; moreover, I have taught high school Spanish classes and have tutored students. I can help you or your student with pronunciation, usage, spelling, verb conjugation, grammar and punctuation.
