I am a licensed teacher for K-6. I am also a dyslexia tutor, specializing in students with dyslexia. This is for students struggling with reading, writing and spelling. Students who are anywhere from 1-3+ years behind their peers in reading. They appear to make minor progress from year to year but the gap between them and their fellow classmates is widening. I use the Barton reading and spelling system. This tutoring requires 2 one hour sessions per week.

I am kind, loving, and patient. I will not give up on your student. Having high self esteem and confidence is so important to a successful schooling experience. Not struggling or feeling that there is something wrong with them can have a significant impact on their learning.

Dyslexia

I am a dyslexia tutor and also diagnose students who may have dyslexia. I have completed the Susan Barton 40 hour dyslexia course for diagnosing and tutoring dyslexia. Learning to read and spell is different for dyslexics. Students need to be able to know the sounds that individual letters make. I have tutored children with dyslexia and have been successful in helping them learn to read and be able to understand how to spell.
