My name is Chelsea, I am 22 years old, and I am a recent graduate of the University of the Southern California. I graduated with a B.A. in Italian and a minor in Music Industry. Music, as well as the Italian culture, have always been two passions of mine. I have studied Italian since high school, giving me a total of 6 years of experience with the language. I have traveled to Italy several times, twice for vacation with my parents, and twice with study abroad programs. My most recent, and most comprehensive trip, was during the spring of 2013, my junior year at USC - I lived and studied in Florence for four months to improve my overall skills and to further the completion of my Italian major.
Given my immense amounts of exposure to the beautiful Italian language and culture, I have come to understand, write, and speak the language very well. I also have a wide span of general Italian knowledge under my belt, including the country's history, its geography, its unique culture, etc. I can definitely pull out some wonderful and exciting memories and stories from my time spent there as well :)
I am always open to sharing my interest in Italian with others, thus I would love to help out anyone who is looking for a tutor to improve his or her Italian language skills - no matter your level or speaking abilities. I am happy to help those who have never learned a word, or those who want to practice their conversational skills, or even those who just want to learn a little more about the culture - il cibo (food), l'arte (art), la letteratura (literature), la musica (music), qualsiasi cosa! (anything!).
While Italian is my specialty, I have always excelled in English grammar and writing as well (I guess language is just something I am drawn to!). I am very much an english/history person, vs. a math/science person; in school, my highest grades always resided in English. My scores in the English and Reading portions of the ACT were both above 30 (willing to verify this information). Writing is something I have always enjoyed and proof reading of essays and other types of writing comes naturally to me. For anyone needing help in English grammar or writing, whether it be for school, for a job, for an application, or simply for fun, I can most certainly be of help to you. I will most certainly cater my lessons to each person's individual needs and desires.
I look forward to the possibility of meeting and working with you! It would certainly be my pleasure to use my language skills in assisting you. Should you choose to contact me, I would be more than happy to provide you with my resume, as well as a few recent writing samples (Italian or English), so as to confirm my qualifications and to provide you with a better idea of who I am.
Grazie e spero di parlare con te presto! / Thank you and hope to speak with you soon!
