My name is Sandhiya and I am currently finishing my third year as an undergraduate student at UCLA. I am majoring in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology, with a minor in Anthropology.
I believe that tutoring methods should be tailored to each individual student. Every student learns best in different ways: some are visual learners, some audio learners, and others avid note-takers. As part of my tutoring method, I would find out in what way the student learns best, to make the tutoring session as efficient as possible.
The second step would be depending on the subject, focus on the materials that your professor or teacher has taught. Every teacher structures their syllabi in a very particular manner and it is important to pinpoint the most important aspects of those materials. Understanding those core themes will be crucial to succeeding on exams and homework grades.
As a volunteer through AIDS Ambassadors at UCLA, I have experience teaching classes of high schools students about the basic science behind HIV/AIDS. Also, as a UCLA student, there is constant sense of peer learning and group thinking.
