I am a very experienced tutor, particularly in ESL
Topics. Besides tutoring in California, I have held teaching positions and taught ESL classes in Italy, Ukraine, and the Netherlands for over 7 years. My most recent teaching experience dates from my time in Maastricht, the Netherlands, where I worked for two language
schools teaching B1 and B2 level English courses. Upon my return, I worked during the school year for a tutoring program funded by the San Diego Unified School District, where I tutored English and Math
to students aged 6-18. I love to challenge students and tailor a course to their needs so they can succeed! Everyone has different aptitudes in language learning, and I will readily identify and address a student's problem areas for maximum improvement.
I earned an MA in Arts and Heritage Policy, Management, and Education from Maastricht University (NL), following a BA in Art History
, Theory & Criticism and a Russian
and Soviet Studies minor at UCSD. At UCSD I spent a year studying abroad in Italy (Rome and Padua), developing expertise in Italian
medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque art and architecture
, including coursework at the Universita degli Studi di Padova. At Maastricht University my thesis proposal was accepted for a research fellowship in Istanbul, Turkey. As such, I have extensive experience with academic research, writing
, and editing
as well as a variety of topics in history, social studies
, art, and geography
I am a native English speaker and fluent in written and spoken Italian. Further, I have studied Russian, Turkish
, and Spanish
I offer a flexible cancellation policy (2 hours) and can travel to you. Otherwise, I will conduct tutoring sessions in a library or coffee shop that is convenient for you. I gladly accept feedback from parents and students, and offer a free consultation before a course is agreed upon.
I look forward to working with you!
