Hi! My name is Crystal. I graduated from the University of Redlands with a BA in biology, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and have a master's degree from USC in cell and neurobiology. I am currently a full-time science faculty member at an independent school in Los Angeles, where I teach biology and anatomy and physiology.

I have experience teaching and tutoring middle school, high school, college and graduate students for the past 10 years. I am passionate about teaching and genuinely enjoy working with students. I relate very well with students of all ages and believe in working with each individual student's unique learning style and personality. I would say that one of my greatest strengths as an educator is my ability to break down complicated material into more simple, understandable and interesting concepts.

In addition to my extensive scientific knowledge and passion for education, I have been trained in the Research for Better Teaching (RBT) foundation of essential beliefs and methodologies. As a result, I have built a strong repertoire of skillful and creative instructional strategies and, more importantly, I am adept at creating a motivational and joyful experience-based learning climate in which students can learn and grow. Finally, in 2013 I was only of only three teachers in the country to be awarded the National Science Teacher Association Vernier Technology Award for my creative use of technology in the classroom.

I look forward to working with you!
