My interest and passion for design is lifelong, I was drawing
floor plans at age 5 and I enjoy igniting that passion for design in others. A natural teacher, I enjoy sharing my passion and knowledge for design and architecture
with others, especially in regards to teaching design in a thoughtful manner that produces not only elegant buildings, but also the understanding of how/why decisions were made so that these skills can be developed and honed by the student moving forward. Patience and clear communication are virtues of mine that help me build a strong rapport with people.
I am regularly invited by professors at the USC school of architecture to sit in on their class reviews, for both preliminary and final reviews. The days I can do that are some of my very favorite days. In addition to USC, I have also done this at the Art
Center College Of Design, and two schools back east, the Boston Architectural Center and Roger Williams University.
I have owned and operated my own design firm, Vertu Studio since 2009. Works have been published by Dwell, Los Angeles Magazine, and the Architects' Guide to Glass and Metal, among others. The most recent completed project was a bar in Chinatown which opened in May of '13, and I am currently working on a residential addition in the hills beneath the Hollywood sign. As I regularly receive applications to my firm, I also am happy to review and advise people on their portfolio and resume.
Prior to starting my own office, I gained experience working on a wide variety of project types of all scales in the following highly regarded design oriented architecture practices: Randall Stout Architects, Charles Rose Architects, Grant Studio Architects, and Shipley Architects.
Thank you for your consideration as a tutor, I look forward to hearing from you.
