I am in my second year working on my Ph.D. in French and Francophone Studies at UCLA, and I have been teaching undergraduate French courses since Fall of 2013. Aside from having a B.A. in French, I have also benefited from having a French roommate for a year, and having spent a month last summer in Lyon in order to improve my accent. I also have many years of experience tutoring in English (writing, proofreading, ESL). My goal is to provide practical language skills in a comfortable, fun, friendly, judgment-free environment.

In addition to French tutoring, I also offer beginning and intermediate guitar lessons. I am self-taught and have been playing guitar for 11 years. I have played in several church worship teams for about seven of those years, and have in the past offered lessons to people of all ages.

I look forward to working with you!

English

I have a bachelor's degree and nearly a master's in the Humanities, where English skills are fundamental to success. I have always received good grades in university-level English and I've frequently helped people on English assignments for over ten years now. I am comfortable tutoring from elementary school up to lower-division college level.

ESL/ESOL

I have about two years of experience tutoring English as a second language as well as French as a second or third language.

French

- B.A. in French from UC Irvine
- 2nd-year Ph.D student in French and Francophone Studies at UCLA
- Beginning to teach undergraduate French language courses at university in Fall 2013

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for 11 years. I've played regularly in several church worship teams for about seven of those years, often twice a week, and I have served as head musician during a few church retreats over the years. I've also given beginning and intermediate private guitar lessons to both children and adults. If you're looking to learn how to lead singing around a campfire or play chord structures and fingerpick a little beyond beginning/intermediate level, I can help with that, too. Styles I'm most familiar with are rock, folk, and country.

Proofreading

Proofreading is something I learned naturally by spending such a long time in academia. I've also worked as a writer and editor on student government newspapers at college, as well as interning at a publishing firm as a proofreader and copy editor.
