I am a veteran teacher of English, ESL and other subjects. I have taught reading to students with various disabilities, including dyslexia, for 25 years. I am National Board Certified and hold a Masters Degree in Bilingual and Secondary Education.

ESL/ESOL

More than 20 years experience teaching ESL and TESOL to secondary students.

National Board Certification in English as a Second Language instruction.

Master's Degree in Bilingual Education.

Proofreading

Fifteen years of experience as a professional proofreader, copy editor and editor for several publishing companies in New York City.

Social Studies

I minored in History as a college undergraduate. I taught AP Psychology for many years, and I was also approved by the Los Angeles Unified School District to teach Social Studies, based on the college credits I earned. I am exceptionally well-read in history, sociology and psychology.

TEAS

I am an experienced high school teacher with a Masters degree in Bilingual and Secondary Education. I have been National Board Certified. I have taught and tutored students in a variety of subjects for 25 years, including SAT and ACT Prep classes in math as well as English.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
