With a BA in Mass Communications from UC Berkeley, I have over 10 years of experience tutoring middle and high school students in English. I have taught students ranging from first year ESL/ELD students to native English speakers who just need help building their writing skills.

I have several years of experience working with Chinese ESL students. Being fluent in Mandarin comes in handy for the students who had moved to the States just six months ago! Language Arts is my expertise, but I have also tutored in college prep (applications, essays) and test prep (SAT, STAR) and most other middle school subjects including Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Because so much of my tutoring is supplemental, I’ve designed customized lesson plans for most of my students using different teaching materials and books. I've put together quite a collection over the years! Each curriculum is different and could include vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing exercises.

I also edit and proofread college-level papers. I'm familiar with APA (American Psychological Association), AP, and MLA formats.

I’m very committed to my students’ success and have had the gratification of seeing so many of them achieve their goals, whether it’s improving their English or getting accepted into a top choice college. Lastly, I’m down-to-earth, patient, and love getting to know new students and their parents.
