Hi, this is Yiqing (Yi-Ching). I am a Chinese student who is now pursuing a master's degree in University of Southern California. I am a native Chinese (Mandarin) speaker, and I have great English communication skills. I love reading, and I am always learning.
My tutoring experience started from my middle school, when my cousins (native English speakers who live in the U.S.) visited us in Beijing for summer. I taught Mandarin to them during the summer days, and that's when I first found teaching was interesting. During my undergraduate years, I've taught international students from Korea and German Mandarin. When I am teaching Mandarin, I always think beyond the language itself. I tell my students about Chinese traditions, culture, and current situations.
I study English as a second language and I am also learning French now. So I understand how hard it can be when it comes to language learning, especially with the huge cultural differences between East and West. I want to be able to teach and share my knowledge and experience of language learning.

As for the teaching methods, I believe different people have different "best" way to learn a language. So instead of teaching step by step according to the textbook, I proactively adjust the teaching pace and methods based on my students' feedback. I once had a Korean student who was interested in Chinese costume drama. So our classes used to be learning Chinese from TV episodes. I would explain the language within the episode after showing the video clip, and we would use the vocabulary or sentences from the class and have a drama play of our own.
