Biostatistics

I am a PhD student in epidemiology and biostatistics. Besides taking several courses, I have also previously tutored and was a TA for the graduate intro course in biostatistics at USC. I am also proficient in SAS, R, SPSS, and STATA.

Genetics

I am a PhD student in epidemiology at USC where I specialize in gene and environment interactions and their effects on disease. My masters degree at Penn State in Biobehavioral Health concentrated on the molecular genetics of drug abuse. I have taken several classes in genetics, and worked for over 8 years at the Centers for Disease Control as a molecular geneticist. I previously have been a teachers assistant for molecular genetics at the college level.

I specialize in teaching basic mendelian genetics (high school level), as well as understanding allele frequencies, hardy-weinberg equilibrium, and pedigree trees. I can also help with college level genetics and molecular genetics.

Statistics

I am currently a third year PhD student at USC in epidemiology and biostatistics. Besides taking several courses, I have also previously tutored and was a TA for the graduate intro course in biostatistics at USC. I am also proficient in SAS, R, SPSS, and STATA. I can help you understand the basic skills needed for statistics, particularly biological statistics, including probabilities, distribution, parametric and non-parametric tests, odds ratios, confidence intervals, and much more.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
