My name is Gee T., and I have a great passion for teaching and tutoring, especially in biochemistry. I received my B.S. from UCLA with a major in biochemistry and have been tutoring for six years. Many of my students find my teaching style very effective and useful, because I am very patient and am always finding new ways to explain concepts in a way many people can understand. I enjoy writing notes out for my students as well as challenging them with problems aimed to focus on improving their weaknesses. I have experience tutoring students of all ages and of all levels but my specialties are in general chemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, general physics, biochemistry and physical chemistry. I am also easy to talk to and have been told by many of my students that I am "the chillest tutor they've ever had." Sign up for a session, and I promise you won't be disappointed!

Biology

Biology doesn't always come easy especially if you are having trouble with extensive memorization. Many students, including myself, have struggled with finding ways to improve your studying for Biology courses. Personally, I've found that the best way to study for Biology is constant application of the material. Biology - the study of life - is something we can observe through everyday experience and application of topics will both improve your understanding as well as minimize the need for intense memorization. Through these applications, we can find trends that are likely to occur under specific conditions which will also improve test-taking abilities in which examiners create different scenarios.

I've tutored General Biology at all levels and courses include: High school Biology, AP Biology, General Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry. I've received A's in all these courses and scored a 5 on my AP Bio exam as well.

Genetics

I've taken multiple forms of upper-division Genetics in the past and have received no lower than an A in these courses. I have also been tutoring Genetics for 3 years so I am continuing to keep my knowledge sharp. Through my studies and experiences as a Genetics tutor, I know what type of concepts teachers like to focus on as well as different examination approaches they can take in order to test a student's understanding.

My love for solving puzzles like Sudoku gave me a knack for solving pedigrees and helped me excel in studying population genetics such as Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. I feel that if students found ways to make their studies more fun, their motivation and understanding would both improve and that's how my structure my tutoring sessions.

Organic Chemistry

I have excelled in my Organic Chemistry courses with Straight A's and have had success in tutoring this subject in the past. Organic Chemistry was a large portion of my Chemistry requirements for my Biochemistry major and I have also been continuing to study this for the MCAT.

With that being said, I have a good idea of what exams tend to ask as well as certain study techniques you can take to improve your understanding which will lead to better test scores.

Education

UCLA (Biochemistry)

Best tutor you could get — Tri was instrumental in helping me get the grades I wanted this summer. He helped me achieve an A in a genetics class at UCLA, which I was very proud of. We also worked on organic chemistry and life sciences, and I was impressed with how much easier those classes were with his help. He has all the skills you would want in a tutor, from a comprehensive understanding of the course material to being ...
