Communication is my love, and I can help you do it in two languages. I love teaching, so let me help you!
I love to teach French! It is my passion and joy. Through 35 years of teaching French at all levels (French 1 through Advanced Placement), I have developed strategies that enable me to teach different learning styles. I speak with native fluency, and can help with conversation and pronunciation. Sessions can be either individual, or done in a group setting. At our first meeting, I will perform an assessment to see exactly where you are, and then we will work together to create a personalized curriculum to help you achieve your desired goals. I can also help with final exam study, papers (just for grammar, of course!) and projects.
Adult learners wishing to travel to French-speaking regions will learn not only vocabulary and useful phrases, but also cultural clues and contexts that will make their experiences more enjoyable.
In addition to French, I am also certified in English grammar. I can help you understand and use the basics and avoid common misuses like their/there/they’re. Since you never have a second chance to make a first impression, let me work with you to make sure everything looks great.
I look forward to our first session. Communication is my love, and I can help you do it in two languages. I love teaching, so let me help you!

Madame Jacki possesses an innate sense of what young people require in order to grasp key concepts. My daughter is a bright and prideful person who doesn't relish asking for help. However, Madame Jacki is able to provide encouragement and structure with a proper dose of healthy constructive feedback to help take initiative and participate in class. The result? A marked improvement on the recent French exam!
A true gem!!!
My son (10th grade, French 3 honors) just had his first lesson with Jacki. One of my first impressions of Jacki is that she is very personable. She instantly connected with my son. After only 10 minutes (of my eavesdropping), it looked as if they'd known each other for a long time. My son says she's a really effective and knowledgeable tutor.
Jacki has been an enormous help to my daughter who is in her second year at Santa Monica City College. She is patient and extremely knowledgable. My daughter has definitely become more confident in her ability to learn French since having Jacki as her tutor.
My son enjoys working with Jacki. She's patient and reliable and wants him to learn--not just to complete his assignments, but also to build a foundation in the language.
My daughter is a 10th grader in her third year of French. She has always struggled with it, especially this year, which is why we looked for a tutor to help her fill in the blanks.
After the first visit my daughter was excited to tell me we had found our tutor. Not only did they connect on a personal level right away, making my daughter feel comfortable, but Jacki was very detailed and thorough in her explanations. There were follow up assignments provided and a real understanding of where to concentrate to improve her skills. We are very hopeful and look forward to our daughter gaining confidence and improving her grades.
As we near the end of 11th grade I can't imagine a better tutor or person to have guided my daughter through French. She gave her the confidence to score really well in her oral tests. She took special care to craft each lesson plan to our daughter's needs and even reached out to her school French teacher in order to anticipate lessons coming up and problem areas.
I am so grateful we found Jacki when we did. She is a gem.
Jacki is tutoring my 9th grade son in French. He struggles and is not motivated, but Jacki is patient and persistent. She is a great communicator and has gone the extra mile. She has communicated with his French teacher at his school and reviewed his previous work to see where he needs help. She is also pleasant and friendly, and I feel comfortable having her in our home.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
