I have been a tutor for the past ten years, working with under privileged students in my home town of Peoria, Illinois. The experiences I have had are an integral part of my life. Of the many students I've had over the years, they have all found a way into my heart. It has been a great privilege of mine to work with special needs children as well, thus my training is quite extensive and diverse. The primary subjects I have taught range from general elementary education through high school science. I have specialized in English, Literature, History, Philosophy and Art, as well as maintaining a keen understanding of human psychology.

The teaching methods I have developed are very meticulous, which allows my students to investigate the details of what they are learning and apply them to the world outside of their books. Teaching is a great passion of mine and I hope to inspire that same passion for learning in my students. The most effective results transpire when the student is completely engaged in the material at the same level as myself. This requires great discipline, fortitude and patience to accomplish. These are the values I try to foster and they have proven to be quite successful over the years.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Photography

I have worked as a fine art photographer for about seven years now, and I have acquired a great deal of knowledge about it. My technical proficiencies are vast, ranging from 35mm film through digital SLR cameras, as well as studio lighting equipment. My work is photodocumentary in nature and I have done a great deal of traveling in order to find incredibly interesting characters for portrayal. In my view, photography is a way to communicate with other people and exchange ideas through catharsis.
