My name is Shannon, and I am well qualified to tutor your child in Geometry, Algebra, and Pre-Algebra. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. In addition, I spent time working with All Hands Volunteers, teaching writing skills to Haitian children. Music is one of my greatest passions, and I have much experience teaching guitar lessons. Equally as important as my teaching experience, I have sales experience ranging from knife sales to music sales all the way to insurance sales. I find sales skills incredibly useful in the classroom, because teaching is actually quite similar to sales. The same way that a salesman must find an exciting way to present a product to a client, a teacher must find an exciting way to present a subject to a student. My teaching experience combined with my sales experience has prepared me to teach your child, and also impassion them about the subjects they are learning.

Every individual has a specific and personalized way of learning and retaining information. For example, I am an auditory learner so I enjoy listening more than reading. In college, I would study by dictating my notes into a tape recorder and then listening to the tape recording on repeat. I know visual learners who learn by drawing pictures and diagrams. Some people like to learn with both visual and auditory stimulation through watching movies. Regardless of which technique is best, I will help your child discover his or her most effective way to learn; and I will follow through on making weekly goals to meet.

I am currently living in the West Hollywood area and I am willing to commute to your home. Feel free to contact me at any time, and I will get back to you at my earliest convenience. Thanks!
