A. Wallin, an active performer and teacher, teaches private lessons to students in the greater Los Angeles area. She has held teaching positions at Rowland Heights Music and the Irvine Art and Music Center. Ms. Wallin has also been largely involved with the USC Thornton Outreach program, having taught sectionals at 32nd Street School and Foshay Learning Center in Los Angeles. Her flute quartet, Flutes of Troy, has performed musical educational assemblies for thousands of students. Other outreach involvement includes presentations as a “meet the instruments” specialist, introducing students to the flute and piccolo. She finds no greater reward than sharing her passion for music with others.

Ms. Wallin received her Master of Music in Flute Performance at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, where she studied with James Walker and Gary Woodward. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance at USC in 2009.

Ms. Wallin currently holds the Ms. Geri Rotella and Peter Rotter-endowed Principal Flute chair of the American Youth Symphony under the direction of Alexander Treger, Former Concertmaster of the L.A. Philharmonic. She has performed under the baton of James Conlon, Alan Silvestri, Carl St. Clair, Michael Tilson-Thomas, and John Williams. She has been the featured soloist with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, the California State University, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Wallin was a flutist in the National Orchestral Institute, the Texas Music Festival, and the Round Top Festival Institute.

Special honors include the Leni Fe Bland Scholarship and a performance at the National Flute Association’s Annual Convention as a winner of the Masterclass Performers Competition. She has also performed at the NFA convention in a chamber music masterclass led by Leone Buyse and Fenwick Smith. Ms. Wallin won the 1st prize in the woodwinds division of the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition and was named winner of the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s Tomorrow’s Stars Competition.
