Columbia University, New York City, BA (Urban Studies )
Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, MSW (Master's)
I am a graduate of Columbia University with a BA in Urban Studies and Psychology. I graduated from Syracuse University with an MA in Social Work. For ten years, I have been working with students ages 10-21 in the capacity of tutor, teacher, summer residential counselor and academic counselor. As an undergraduate and graduate student, I conducted group and individual tutoring, specializing in the areas of Math and English. I have frequently assisted students who have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, or other learning disabilities. For four summer seasons, I was a residential counselor for the Upward Bound program at Columbia University. I spent one of those summers as a teacher of Global History and Psychology. While in graduate school and abroad in South Africa, I served as an academic counselor to students who were on academic probation and considered at risk of not graduating. I engage students in strategies designed to increase focus, organization and academic performance.
I currently work with Los Angeles high schools as a counselor to decrease dropout rates and increase graduation rates. I work patiently and collaboratively with youth to help them push beyond their limits and recognize their full potential. I look forward to working with you and/or your student(s)! Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
