I'm a UCLA graduate with a B.S. in mathematics
for teaching. I was a full time tutor from fall 2010 - summer 2015, which means I have over 1000 hours total tutoring experience working with students from 2nd to 12th grade, and beyond. I am currently completing my student teaching in mathematics at an LAUSD high school, while earning my teaching credential at CSULA. I am certified in both the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST
) and the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) in mathematics.
I tutor every middle school or high school math
subject including calculus
1, Algebra 2
, calculus, geometry
). I also tutor in some university-level mathematics (single variable calculus, college algebra
, etc). If the university-level math course you need help with is not listed, please feel free to contact me to ask if I can help you with it.
I teach not only the procedures for completing problems, but also why those procedures work, where the concepts are used in the real world and why they are important. I have many engaging, intuition-building real-world mathematics lessons prepared for the most challenging subjects that have been extensively tested in the classroom for effectiveness. Because I tutor in almost every level of mathematics, I can effectively help both students who need help catching up to their peers and students who need more challenging work than they are given in school. I truly love mathematics, and it is my passion to inspire new students to understand and appreciate its beauty. I can't wait to hear from you!
I generally only do in-home tutoring for students who live within about 5 miles of 90034 (the Palms area of L.A.) but I am also happy to meet any student at a public location (coffee shop, library, etc.) in or near Palms or Culver City. Unsure if you are within my travel range? Feel free to contact me to ask, I would be happy to let you know. Also, I may be able to travel further for an additional fee.
36 hours notice required
My full fee for the lesson may be charged if a lesson is cancelled less than 36 hours in advance.

I came across this question while applying to a teacher training program called EnCorps. I liked it so much I think I'll share it with you.
As a successful professional, how have you used math or science in your daily work? What would you say to a student who questioned whether math or science would be useful in their future? How will you communicate that with students in a classroom?
