I love to help students to learn math. Each student is different, so I often adjust my teaching method for each individual. I always try to stimulate my student’s interest in math learning. The interest mainly comes from having confidence in math, so my purpose is to build my students’ confidence in math.

I graduated from California State University with a single subject credential in mathematics. Over the past 10 years, I have tutored many students and have taught math at Jordan High School in Los Angeles. My tutoring encompasses all levels of math, from basic arithmetic, prealgebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus.

Please send me an email through WyzAnt for any of your questions and concerns.

CBEST

I took the CBEST and passed. For the math part, most questions are very basic arithmetic. Words problems, you need to read them carefully before you answer it. They have algebra and geometry questions on the test, so for some students might need help to review algebra and geometry.

I know how to help students refresh their memories and help them review the formulas and rules to do the problems.

As for the English part, most students can pass it.

Students can trust me to help them to pass this test - CBEST.

Chinese

I am a native speaker of Mandarin and trained to teach Mandarin. I have taught/tutored students in small classes or one-on-one, and helped them to listen, to speak, to read, and to write the language. All my students enjoyed learning from me.

My experience in tutoring Mandarin would be an ideal match for assisting students from young children to adults who want to learn Mandarin Chinese.

You will learn and practice in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. And how to use Chinese in real life:
how to understand it on the street, speak it on the phone, read it in the newspaper, or write it in a report.

You will find that my lessons are interesting and practical.

Elementary Math

Besides helping middle school and high students with math, I have had years of experiences helping students from 3rd to 6th graders for their math study.

Each student improves their grades and doing well on the tests.

ESL/ESOL

Since I speak both Chinese and English, it benefits my students a lot when I help them in English. For example, they can use Chinese to ask me questions when they don’t know certain word in English or don’t know how to ask a question clearly in English.

In addition, I often add interesting things into my lessons. For example, I introduced my students the pop music in sixties, how composers and singers created songs which reflected American society and young people’s thoughts.

As an experienced teacher of ESL, I already have many years of experience helping Chinese students to learn English grammar and composition and I understand how to conduct an interesting and productive lesson.
