Upon my successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Wesleyan University in May, 2011, I embarked on my first professional journey into the world of education. After a summer spent teaching
Algebra II to high school students at Northfield Mount Hermon, I traveled to Can Tho, Vietnam where I spent two semesters teaching Vietnamese students at Can Tho University. While teaching English to students at CTU I also advised PHD candidates on their English theses and helped mentor and support the organizers of the Student
Environmental Network. After returning from Vietnam I spent a year tutoring math students in Seattle. I now teach math full-time at the Dunn School in the Santa Ynez valley.
I have always loved Math, and realized I also loved teaching whilst volunteering with WesMath, a student-run tutoring group that works at elementary schools in Middletown, CT. I remember how much of a difference a math tutor made in my life during high-school, and I strive to provide the same special experience to my students. I believe math is inherently fun and creative, and encourage my students to embrace this outlook as a way of surmounting math "fears"!
