I am a young recent college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and English Creative Writing. During my coursework, I became knowledgeable in early to modern Latin American, United States, and British literature. I earned a spot on the Dean's List my final two semesters, graduating with honors for earning a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
One of my strengths is the composition of analytical-critical response essays pertaining to established authors and their works. I enjoy meticulous reading, deciphering literal or figurative meaning, and interpreting text subjectively.
I believe that active readers better equip themselves with skills necessary to achieve top academic performance. The ability and inclination to read and write opens us to a world of creativity and intellectual conversation, not to mention ample vocabularies and perceptive thought as to how the universe may operate.
Furthermore, I am very passionate about writing, as I most often do poetry, political essays, journals, and short stories.
I am educated in Latin American history and the Spanish language. I have been speaking and improving my Spanish for a number of years, surrounding myself with those native to the language to be able to apply it in my daily life. I have traveled to the Dominican Republic and went on various church missions there to help out in impoverished areas, and also had the opportunity to live off of the country's Northern coast for a few months in order to become more cultured, as I formed long-lasting, international friendships using first-hand Spanish(as I really had no other choice). To this day, I find that the trip, along with a college education, have better equip me for my professional life, the former being responsible for my initial encouragement to become bilingual.
Lastly, apart from being employed by various companies, I have work/volunteer experience at schools and boys and girls clubs. I was a teacher's aide in an elementary school classroom for a semester, helping students with their math, journal entries, reading and critical thinking, and phonics. I have also volunteered at a boys and girls club while attending my university, prompting young learners how to write creatively by offering them subjects, techniques, and other ideas in order to formulate stories (something they could later share with their families at home).
Thank you for reading about me and I hope that I can be of great help to anyone searching for a tutor in the fields I have posted. I aim to satisfy and encourage the student to voice feedback.
