I am a full time tutor who loves her job! I have a master's degree in organic chemistry from UCLA, and worked as a teaching assistant there for two years. I also have over ten years of tutoring experience and would be happy to help you learn!
I started tutoring in high school when I taught math to middle school students. Over the past ten years I’ve tutored middle school and high school students. For the past five years I’ve taught students at the college level. I have always strived to be the best teacher possible, by using teaching techniques that I found useful as a student. I enjoy teaching immensely and have been very successful in my teaching endeavors, as reflected in numerous positive teaching evaluations.
One of the most crucial parts of teaching is helping students understand the root of the problem. I do not advance the material until I am positive that my students understand the basics. If a student is confused with problems that involve the ideal gas law, for example, I ask probing questions in an effort to determine whether or not the confusion stems from a more fundamental misunderstanding, such as a difficulty grasping unit conversion.
I am always patient and friendly with my students, and have experience with a wide range of skill levels. I hope we can work together!
"Robin has been without a doubt my favorite TA out of all the classes I have taken so far at UCLA. She is very knowledgeable about the material, and able to clearly explain specific concepts. She genuinely wanted to help us, and made sure that she answered all of our questions during section. Robin was also very easy to talk to, which I think is an important quality for a TA. She was able to engage students in the section."
