I first started tutoring for a private tutoring company in 2006, and received my single subject teaching credential in mathematics in 2008. I have been teaching 7th and 8th grade at a successful charter school (Richard Merkin Middle School) for the past 5 years. I am the department and grade level chair, and I participate in multiple committees on writing and developing mathematics curricula that seeks to keep students engaged and really learning mathematics, not just the little tricks that get one by in elementary school.
I really love mathematics, and see math and science as vibrant ways of life. I believe all students can learn and enjoy a rigorous mathematics lesson with positive, aggressive, and productive struggle through obstacles. As a tutor, I want to teach you not just how to be successful on a test, but how to be successful in mathematics as a discipline. I want you to see that your math skills are something that can always grow. I just want to help that growth along.
