I am Professor English Extraordinaire! As a child, I played school, and I was always the teacher. As an adult, I became a teacher, and for 11 years I taught English, ESL and Test Preparation for the GED. My California credential says I am certified to teach, English, ESL, Basic Skills and Social Sciences.
Prior to teaching, I published and edited a magazine for five years. My job duties included desktop layout and copy editing, which means I put the magazine together and made sure the grammar and format were correct and that the text flowed smoothly.
During five of the years during which I taught, I served as co-pastor of a church. The other co-pastor and I did everything from teaching Bible classes and writing and presenting lessons and sermons to maintaining records on MS Excel and creating fliers and jpegs using MS Publisher to promote activities and events.
Currently, I am the pastor of a small ministry, and I use MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint to write lessons and sermons, to maintain records, to create brochures, business cards, jpegs, fliers and booklets, and to design lessons and presentations, respectively. I also create PDFs with Adobe Acrobat and I periodically use Photoshop to modify pictures.
I'm a published author, a videographer and a weekend gardener who loves to see all living things grow and thrive.
I tutor one-on-one and in small groups. My preference is adults and older children who want to learn, but I will work with younger children who are well-behaved. I have the patience to work with people with mild learning disabilities as long as they are willing and able to do the work.
