Grammar

I was an English major in college and studied grammar and linguistics extensively. I received straight As in graduate school and was always the lead writer in group projects. I received grant monies for our school garden totaling $8700 over the past five years based on grants I wrote. I have taught English grammar for various schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 25 years.

Geography

I have taught geography in grades K through 8 for 25 years and have been credentialed to do so since 1988. I have traveled throughout Europe and America. Being born and raised in Asia gives me a good geography knowledge base as well. I am a college graduate of the University of Vermont, where I studied politics, and I have a Master's degree from CSULA, where I achieved a 4.0 GPA.

Study Skills

I have taken the LSAT, was accepted into law school, and as well achieved a 4.0 GPA in my Master's program in graduate school. Last month, I was selected as one of five test prep tutors at our elementary school of 700 to assist students nearing proficiency reach grade level standards on the upcoming California Standards Test. I am highly knowledgeable in test taking and study skills tips and could assist any student needing to improve in these areas.

Public Speaking

Over the past twenty years, I have been a mentor teacher at two different schools, a title one coordinator, and a trainer of teachers. At my current school, I have been a staff development presenter more than 50 times to our faculty on all academic and program topics. Prior to that, I trained 300 Los Angeles teachers in small group instruction. In college, I studied Public Speaking and received high grades.

CBEST

Having taken, passed, and studied the CBEST, I could successfully prepare test candidates for the CBEST. Carefully working through sample problems and passages, students under my tutelage will achieve a passing score on all sub tests.
