Spanish

I am bilingual (English/Spanish); can explain all Spanish grammar rules and conjugate verbs (regular/irregular) in all tenses.

I am native English speaker, who has studied grammar and vocabulary extensively. I hold a master's degree and am passionate about English literature.

ESL/ESOL

I teach ESL at Berlitz Language School in Santa Monica and am on call at the Beverly Hills Lingual Institute.

I have worked with Japanese, Korean, Indian, Dutch, Brazilian, Russian and Iranian students, either in small groups or individually.

Ear Training

I have my Master's degree in Music and have taught Ear Training, both in a classroom setting and individually.

I have administered tests in interval recognition, chord recognition, sight singing, and rhythmic drills.

I have watched with pride as my students have improved their listening abilities in the above ear training skills.

Music History

I have taught music appreciation at the college level since 2001. I am very knowledgeable about music history, and can easily discuss the Baroque, Classical and Romantic era styles and composers as they pertain to music history.



Sight Singing

I have my Master's degree in Music and have taught sight-singing, both in a classroom setting and individually.

I have successfully demonstrated how to identify certain patterns while sight-singing, which include interval recognition, setting a slow, steady tempo and how the individual notes can relate to certain common chord progressions.

I have had great success with my sight-singing students.

Voice (Music)

I have taught voice privately since 1985. I have taught class voice at the college level (beginning, intermediate and advanced) since 1998.

With a Master's degree in Vocal Performance, I am well equipped with the knowledge of how to develop one's singing voice. I am a good communicator, and will address proper posture, breathing techniques, and developing a beautiful tone quality.
