I am a recent recipient of a PhD. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of New Mexico. I have also completed a one year postdoctoral fellowship in neuroscience at UCLA. I am a patient teacher, and I believe that there is always a way to think about a problem or concept that makes it clear for a student. I also have a great enthusiasm for science, and I think that this makes learning enjoyable for my students.
My other degrees are a B.S. in Biology with a microbiology and genetics focus and a B.A. in chemistry.
I have been a teaching assistant for college-level physiology and have 6 months' volunteer experience at the Explora Science Center in Albuquerque, NM. I was also a judge at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in New Mexico for three years, providing feedback and advice on a project that eventually placed at the national competition. I am currently a substitute teacher at the Buckley School.
My extensive post-secondary science education and multiple years' experience performing research has provided me with a considerable depth of scientific knowledge and understanding of scientific process, in addition to a profound recognition of the ways in which students come to learn those processes.
