Hello. My name is Lea D. and I am a wonderful and effective Tutor/Mentor. I am a graduate of the University of Southern California Film and Television Production program with a Masters in Fine Arts. I love teaching and I have the necessary work experience, talent, dedication, and attitude to be a successful tutor.
I have strong experience in mentoring the youth. I have worked professionally as a tutor back in the Philippines, teaching English, Writing, Math and Science for students in grade school and high school. I was also heavily involved as a youth mentor with our local church where I taught kids as young as four years old as well young adults in their late teens.
When I moved to the US six years ago for grad school, I immediately became a teaching assistant at USC. While there, my responsibilities ranged from one-on-one tutorials to classroom instruction for both undergraduate and graduate film students, giving me ample training in knowing how to handle and educate different personalities. Professionally I have worked in print, TV and film as a writer, editor, stylist, and concept producer. In my present job, I work as the intern coordinator for Circle of Confusion, in charge of hiring and training interns. All these experiences demonstrate adaptability and the ability to thrive under the demands of being a teacher. I have shown that I am not intimidated by the unpredictable and varied nature of the job, I really enjoy it.
I am very motivated, extremely detail-oriented, with excellent communication and organizational skills. I am an effective communicator. I am well spoken, an attentive and perceptive listener and confident when I need to express myself. Clear and intelligent communication is necessary for this job when interacting with students.
Above all else I submit myself confidently because of my attitude, kindness and integrity. I am very easy to get along with and I enter this position wanting to forge real professional and human connections. I am extremely hard working and I care about what I do and the people I work with. I also have a sense of humor that enable me to roll with the punches—a must for this profession. These are traits I am most proud of and are the traits that my students would benefit from foremost.
