Hi everyone,

My name is Matt and I recently graduated from UCLA with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. My undergraduate study was also at UCLA and I received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, minored in mathematics. I have been doing private in-home tutoring in all areas of mathematics and physics for the past six years. I possess excellent knowledge of providing customized tutoring services to students. My ability to work with students and parents in order to find out their weakest points and the aspiration to work towards providing strengthening services has been commended many times. Moreover, I possess a positive attitude and a passion to assist struggling learners. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. Algebra 1

Algebra 1 provides the basic building blocks for all of the higher high school math classes. I help students master these basic principles: variable equations, inequalities, absolute value, slope, slope-intercept form, polynomials, quadratic equations, exponents and radicals. Plus the dreaded word problems. Learning these basic principles well from the beginning will give students a strong foundation for the rest of their high school careers.

Algebra 2

For some students, algebra 2 marks the end of their high school career; for others, it's just a stepping stone to other higher Math classes; and for a third group, it's a refresher class at college. But no matter the reason, the objective is clear... to pass the class. I help students navigate through factoring, the Quadratic Formula, complex roots, imaginary numbers, matrices, exponents, logarithms, radicals, series & sequences, and conic sections (hyperbolas, ellipses, and circles).

Calculus

Calculus is the building block for all the engineering classes and upper division math classes. If you major in engineering you will see that everything you have learned so far in your algebra or other math classes were taught to you so you can apply them in calculus. Calculus may look very scary to those who have problems with the basic concepts of derivative and integral. But I employ some tutoring methods that will make calculus a fun subject for you.

Geometry

Geometry is a very different subject compared to other branches in mathematics and can often make even the brightest math students stumble. I have a lot of experience teaching this subject and I will make Geometry very easy for you, whether it is with angles, lines and triangles in first semester or surface areas, volumes, and circles in second semester.

Physics

Physics is the application of all the math subjects that we study at school in real life. Sometimes students suffer in their physics classes because they don't know how to approach the problems. The way I tutor physics has made concepts very easy for my students. Prealgebra

I help students develop their skills and strong foundation in Math that they will need during their high school years and beyond. I cover the introduction to variables, factoring, inequalities, graphing, and absolute values.

Precalculus

I help precalculus students develop the strong fundamentals of Math that they are going to need in Calculus. I review the six Trigonometric functions and their graphs, logarithms. I also cover complex numbers and polar coordinates. Finally, I preview limits and derivatives that will form the basis of Calculus.

Trigonometry

With Trigonometry, it is common that students feel lost, because they haven't understand the basics of trigonometry, that is what the six trigonometric functions Sin, Cos, Tan, Sec, Csc, and Cot mean. Once that is fully understood, rather than just memorizing the values of these functions for different angles, the rest would be surprisingly easy.
