Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my qualifications as a tutor.
As a recently graduated journalism student of Pepperdine University, I have found that many of today's students struggle retaining the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to write at the college level. Writing is such a vital component of college academics regardless of one's major. This is why I work with students to write beyond what is assigned in the classroom, and to search for what interests them.
If writing is a a difficult task to begin with, writing on a topic that seems "boring" seems impossible. When students are able to learn to find their voice as a writer, they are able to bring that voice to their writing regardless of topic.
My tutoring "style" varies from student to student. Everyone is at a different level, and I try to approach each student in a manner that is most conducive to individual success. No matter the level of writing the student may be at, I believe that with practice everyone can find their voice and implement it in their writing. When a student is ready, I try to push them with outside free writing assignments. This gives them the opportunity to write on material of their choosing and helps refine their voice as a writer.
I truly enjoy seeing my students gain the self-confidence to nurture their writing and become better students. If writing is a challenge, and if grades are suffering as a result of your writing, I promise you that I can help. I also help prepare students who are gearing up to take the SAT by showing them the process for writing SAT essays. I am very flexible and base sessions on the needs of students.
In addition to writing, I also tutor history for those in need of help with high school history courses. I am passionate about the subjects I tutor, and I ensure that the time we spend together is of quality. I look forward to working with you, and please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.
