Hello,
My name is Austin. I heard you want help with studying and I can help you. Let me start off with my experience: I have a BS in biochemistry from UCLA with an informal emphasis on chemistry and molecular biology, which means I spent a lot of time hitting the books and helping other students understand the materials. Also, I have spent the past few months studying specifically for the general and biochemistry subject GRE on which I received 99th percentile. I am a prospective graduate student of the UCLA pharmacology department where I will get my PhD.
The way I approach tutoring is by briefly assessing the student's current knowledge of the material, imparting or refining the basic concepts, and allowing the student to apply the new ideas for integration and expansion of understanding while emphasizing active participation from the student throughout. From my studies, however, I have learned that the key to academic success is being adaptive; each subject, teacher, and exam will be different, so the using the same approach will not always work. Similarly, students vary in the way they learn best and I believe that through working together I will help you to establish the most efficient methods for your studies. I have been able to help many students in the past and in one case the student raised his grade from a D to an A in an upper-division biochemistry course. However, these types of accomplishments cannot be won through guidance alone, but along with hard work and dedication, I am sure we can achieve nothing short of success.
I hope to work with you soon!
