My name is Helen and I am submitting this response to show and say how much I enjoy tutor children in order to help children better their knowledge in a subject. My background in tutor children is in working with kids along with their homework, ranging ages 3-13 year olds, in understanding what they are taught at school in depth and be able to apply this knowledge in a real life setting. I have worked for the past two and a half years helping children including children with special needs improve their knowledge by spending quality time reinforcing what they are taught at school and explaining as many times as it takes what the child does not understand in order for him or her to understand the subject and not feel lost in class. I enjoy seeing how I can help alleviate a child frustration ones I have help them grasp the meaning of the content.
Working at the Assistance League of Southern California I have be able to work with children two to three years behind their age group level yet with patience, love, repetition, and overall persistence I was able to help these children reach their class goals. Seeing these kids no longer frustrated but excited to take their next test brings joy to my heart. It is my pleasure to help children understand a subject they are struggling with being that no child deserves to feel frustrated when learning. The key to success is knowledge hence it is my joy tutoring children who need the extra help to reach their goals.
With most students, I start by having them take an attempt on doing their homework alone. Using this as my starting point I am able to get an understanding on what the student needs to improve in and what the student already understand. This helps me be able to target the areas the child needs improvement in.
