I am a recent graduate student having finished my Master's degree at Ohio State University. While pursuing my degree I taught a writing level 3 class, required for Junior and Seniors to graduate in the humanities programs. I recently completed a piece that is included in an encyclopedia of sport due for publication next Spring. I have taught in a variety of settings from teaching group dynamics and communication skills in team building and leadership workshops, to teaching kids from ages 1 to 15 in a variety of different sport and recreation activities.
I believe that with the right instruction - a hands on, patient and fundamental approach - anyone can grow as a writer and a student. When teaching, I understand and embrace the idea that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses to build upon. The most important aspect of a person to find success in writing is to respect and embrace criticism. Criticism, at its core is not negative, it is only a tool to point out areas for growth and development.
