I have one year of teaching experience at Illinois College (a 4-year liberal arts college in Jacksonville, IL) as an assistant professor and four years of teaching as a teaching assistant at University of Southern California, Los Angeles. I taught introductory chemistry for non-science major students, organic chemistry for chemistry-, biology-, biochemistry- and nursing-major students, and advanced organic chemistry for chemistry and physics majors. I also led laboratories for these courses as well as for general chemistry.
During my teaching at Illinois College I conducted midterm surveys to find out what teaching technique is more suitable for my students. The combination of lecturing, PowerPoints, and discussions was the best choice. During such discussion a real conversation between me and my students developed. I guided the students to the solutions by giving feed-backs and hints. I truly enjoyed it and the students found it very helpful in grasping the material.
I loved working with my students individually and had extended office hours without fixed schedule, so any student could come in. It was greatly appreciated by the students in their course evaluations. In 30 minutes of intensive working with me in my office they could master the material we were studying during the week.
I have done some tutoring for students majoring in nursing. The students have successfully completed the Bachelor program of registered nurse. It was my first time of tutoring and it was a true delight for me. The students were content as well!
By working one on one (or in a small group) I will help you to achieve your goals! As I say: one head is good, but two are much better!
