My name is Dylan. I studied jazz, classical and rock/pop piano and voice from childhood, sang as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic at the age of 12, studied the singing of ancient music and opera while minoring in jazz piano at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and toured for 6 years with the multi-Grammy award winning ensemble Chanticleer as a featured soloist.
I stopped singing with Chanticleer to focus on my composition and songwriting, and am now an available tutor to help students of any age learn vocal technique, piano, music theory, composition, songwriting, or to reach new levels of artistry and expression as a coach for recitals or upcoming performances.
I am well versed in most styles of music, and am an ideal tutor for someone who is trying to break free of limitations keeping them from maximizing the potential of their performance. I am a suitable tutor for beginning or advanced students!
My teaching philosophy centers on an approach to bring out honest expression through an in depth understanding of the material, technically and emotionally. I believe that music is it's most exquisite when it is accurate as well as spirited... technique must be fortified with personality, precision with feel!
I expect my students to be serious and ready to commit to the work necessary for advancement of their art. If that is you, then let's get to work!
