I have always been a writer: a poetess, an essayist, an author, an analyst, a generic-standard-form-letter writer, a storyteller, and a songwriter. Not only do I possess a knack for the technical (i.e. vocabulary and grammar), but a means for accessing the hidden potential of all people to write. I am a firm believer that everyone has something to say; writing can be a means for uniquely and articulately expressing ourselves to the world.
I am a recent graduate of Pomona College, where I received my BA in Environmental Analysis - Design. In college, I worked in several poetry and essay writing workshops, assisting fellow students in creating, editing, and focusing drafts of their work. I have been told by many of my peers and professors that I have a great ability to bring forth the best in other writers and to compel people to follow their ideas through words. I hope that through tutoring, I will not only be able to edit you or your child's work, not only make it stronger and more articulate, and not only assist in outlining ideas, but that I can inspire other people to find their voice through writing. I am willing to assist in all types of writing, from academic to technical to creative.
Outside of the written word, I greatly enjoy playing the banjo, songwriting, puns, cooking, bicycling, hiking, crafting, drawing, singing, reading, garage sales, tea, performing, photography, and much much more! I would be delighted to share time with your student pursuing outside interests, especially those that are creative and fun!
