As a recent graduate of St. Francis College, I had the opportunity to establish and strengthen my teaching skills by working as a peer tutor for two years at St. Francis College. I tutored my peers in subject areas including General biology and chemistry, Pre-Calculus, College algebra and Anatomy and Physiology. My effectiveness as a science peer tutor was as a result of my patience, creativity and the encouragement i gave to the students.
I believe every student should have a strong academic foundation. This will serve as the propelling force needed to attain academic success on the higher educational levels. As a result, I take my role as a tutor very seriously. To me, it is an opportunity to help others by applying my skills, rendering my services and sharing my knowledge.
I also have experience as a childcare provider, working for NYCity Explorers Inc., where I worked with children of varying ages. My childcare provider role enabled me to help school going children with their homework and academic problem areas particularly in the sciences. Tutoring is a skill and when utilized properly can be extremely beneficial, which is what I intend to do when hired as a science tutor at your institution.
My tutoring objective is to make learning approachable and indulging. I plan to approach each student's problem area distinctively and tailor solutions befitting the student’s strength. With the care, enthusiasm, diligence, creativity and knowledge I possess, this can be accomplished. I am ardently interested in tutoring and helping others through the use of my skills.
