ESL/ESOL

I was raised in the Midwest of the Northern Cities Dialect. Having also lived in regions of peculiar dialect, such as West Texas and Northern Michigan, I've learned to appreciate my lack of accent. Economics

"Economics is common sense gone hog wild," a professor of mine at UCLA told us. It's a language as well as a set of math applications. Fortunately, the math lends itself to graphical representation. Fortunately also, history and daily news are replete with examples to aid understanding of theory.

Finance

Theory of Finance was the key class, in that field, at the UCLA Graduate School of Management. While I was still an undergraduate there I passed this challenging course, as well as courses in financial math and applications. I can help you to acquire these skills, by which I've earned an independent living.

LSAT

While I haven't taken the LSAT, I am skilled at tests of this general type and I've accomplished more through legal work, including at the state appellate and federal levels, than most practicing attorneys ever do.

GED

While I haven't taken the GED test, "General Education Development" is the pursuit which drives my life.

SAT Reading

SAT skills are strengthened through coached exercise. Besides cultivating breadth of general knowledge, I can teach you some tricks, which I found helpful in consistently scoring in top percentiles on this and various other standardized tests.

SAT Writing

Selecting the answer based on first impression, I've found to be key. Drills with feedback from an experienced coach are the method for building confidence.

TOEFL

I have innate ability at the English language and patience with those who do not.

GMAT

Disciplined discernment of one's impressions of the available answers, along with review of the relevant math, are the skills that I emphasize.

I consistently scored in the top tenth on various standardized tests.

Spelling

I am highly attentive to spelling and I check myself periodically, looking up words upon my slightest sense of doubt that I might be misspelling it.

Film

At UCLA I took a number of courses in film history. I still frequently attend screenings there of old, seldom-seen, classics. I know, from reading at the Motion Picture Academy Library, about many films that I haven't even seen.
