Hello,
My name is Sandra and I am an award winning fashion designer/design director and chef with experience in London, Paris, NYC, Dallas & Beverly Hills. I have worked as a design assistant for Halston, Mary McFadden, Ossie Clark & Zoran before starting my own design & retail business with sales of $500 million per year. I was mentored by Mr. Stanley Marcus (of Neiman Marcus) who was on my advisory board for several years until his passing.
I started out my career as a classical ballet dancer which provided a truly great basis for my understanding of the body and movement as well as physical composition. I graduated from FIDM with outstanding honors and an internship with the wonderful Bob Mackie. I am also a popular college professor at FIDM fashion college in downtown LA where I co-wrote the course "The Business of Fashion" for the fashion design department and also teach "The Principals of Product Development" in the merchandise department. I have strong mentoring skills and love to work with up & coming fashion design talent.
I am available for tutoring involving any design based work as well as basic English & literature. I have an engaging hands on approach and generously use my mentoring skills to inspire and encourage excellence. I tutor at FIDM and have worked with many foreign students, from Asia, Europe, and Latin America, and have a strong success rate helping them achieve their goals in a timely manner. Many of my former students remain in communication with me after graduation as we often establish lasting bonds.
