Hello,
My name is Brooke. I'm a Stanford Grad, and have scored perfectly on the recent SAT (2400!) and also scored in the 99th percentile when I took the test (out of 1600) in high school. Though I've been with WyzAnt for less than a year, I've been teaching and tutoring for over 10 years and have over 8,000 hours experience tutoring children, teens, and adults.
Not only have I taught the test working for or contracting with 10 different education companies, I have also been a curriculum writer, writing SAT prep curriculum, as well as debate and literature curriculum, for three different established education companies. I have also worked as a mentor and teaching assistant at the University of Southern California.
In addition to test prep -- I also specialize in essay writing and college essay and application consulting, and have extensive experience teaching ACT, ISEE, SSAT, AP Language & Comp, AP Literature & Comp, AP US History, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, GRE, LSAT Reading section, MCAT verbal section, and essay writing. I am a grammar expert, and have several students with whom I focus entirely on writing. I also have experience teaching ESL to students ages 8-48, and can also help with pronunciation and accent elimination.
I graduated with honors in American Studies from Stanford University in 2002, and completed an MFA in Cinematic Arts from USC in 2008. Though my academic background weighs heavily toward writing and verbal, I naturally excel in mathematics, and am comfortable teaching that as well (fun fact: I received a perfect score on the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and GRE math sections!). Specifically, I have the most experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry-- as well as test prep math. I've helped students pass out of these grade level maths entirely over the course of a summer -- and taught the entire course via tutoring sessions from the ground up. I've also taught Math Olympiad and contest math -- I was on the state championship math team in high school.
I am a seasoned professional with test prep-- I've seen how several companies teach, I've worked with most every published SAT prep book available, and I know what works best and how to get results. My students describe me as energetic and funny. Some of the students I've tutored have scored in the 99th+ percentile on the SAT and become national merit scholars. Others have gained admission to Ivy League or other top ranking schools.
With most students, I start by having them take a diagnostic test. Using the results from this test, we make a personalized, targeted lesson plan to cover everything the student needs to know-- without wasting time covering areas he or she has already mastered.
Here are some testimonials from some of my students:
“I just wanted to tell you that I got a 2370 on my SAT!! Most importantly, I got a 780 in CR, and then 790 in math and 800 in writing! Thank you so so so much for everything you've taught me about CR and Writing--you were an awesome teacher.”

Just wanted to let you know I got a 2020 on the SAT! 640 on reading, 600 on math, and 780 on writing! Thanks sooo much for all the help!” (Student scored 1680 -- 530 on the reading, 530 on math, and 620 on writing-- on her first official SAT practice test)
“You may ask, who is Brooke? Brooke is one of the rare few who has arcane knowledge of the inner workings of the enigma that is the SAT. Brooke is also an SAT tutor who helped me increase my reading comprehension score from the low 600s to the high 700s. Also, she somehow makes the SAT fun.”

“Brooke is by far the most dedicated, enthusiastic, and devoted teacher I have ever had! She actually makes SAT tutor session fun and engaging. I love her unwavering energy and vitality, which makes us students feel more alert and attentive. Brooke not only shares with her tips and secrets on improving our SAT score and how to think to pick the right answer, but she also tells us life advice and lessons she has acquired throughout years. I look forward to attending SAT class every Sunday just because it is fun. ”
