I would like to say above all that I love children. With over 10 years' paid experience and about 3 years' volunteer experience working with children ranging ages 0-18, I never would have thought that I’d one day consider teaching as a career choice. However, over time, this experience has allowed me to work with children that come from various educational backgrounds.
As a substitute teacher’s assistant I had the opportunity to work with educationally challenged, physically disabled, and emotionally challenged children ranging from ages 4-21. From this experience I was able to remain sensitive to students’ unique capabilities, provide individualized support, and collaborate with lead teachers to cultivate a supportive learning environment, where each student was able to learn and succeed.
In addition to this job title, I have held a few other positions in which I worked one-on-one with special education students as an aide and/or assistant providing them with extra assistance and being a positive influence. Moreover, I've been tutoring for the past 8 years. One of my greatest strengths is helping maintain a well-disciplined learning environment with minimal interruptions and maximum productivity as this is essential in a student’s learning process. In addition, I develop an excellent trusting rapport with all students to make certain that they feel safe and comfortable in my presence.
I have come to understand that when I am overseeing the care and/or instruction of children I am a role model and stand to be an example because this was the case for me. It was my 10th grade English teacher that had the most influence over me. What he imparted to me, I kept and cherished and in return I would like to be that person that makes all the difference in the life of another child; that inspires them to dream big and work hard. As the saying is true, tomorrow’s future is today’s investment.
As a highly compassionate and committed educator, with a passion for genuine life-long learning, I welcome the opportunity to work with you to discuss how my skills can benefit your child. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
