I have a CA lifetime teaching credential, and have taught elementary school for twenty four years. I have also tutored in middle school up through high school in various areas with emphasis on English and writing.
In addition, I have had fifteen educational books published in the areas of writing, reading, language arts, and science. Teaching is my chosen and desired profession. Besides writing for students, I enjoy surrounding myself with wonderful, creative minds of children and young adults.
I teach with a sense of humor and have ultimate respect for the individuality of each pupil. I have an open and believe that each student's individual needs should be met.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a lifetime CA teaching credential and have taught in the LAUSD, grades K-6, for 24 years. I have taught basic reading, spelling, math, writing, language arts, science, and social studies.

Phonics

In my 24 years of teaching, I have used phonics as the main thrust in teaching reading, and the pronunciation of words. It is highly important to teach correct pronunciation. I have used both written and verbal methods. Phonics is a step by step process in helping students in sounding out parts of words. The sounding out of letters and combinations is basic to proper diction. I found my style of teaching extremely effective, especially with students from foreign countries.

ESL/ESOL

I have taught ESL for four years at Columbia West College. I have private tutored ESL students in helping them learn English, verbally and through written skills.
