Good Day Potential Students!

I've tutored for over two years: on my own, for private companies, and through the no child left behind act. My favorite subject to teach is Algebra, though writing is a close second. I love working on equations and hope I can instill the same love in you!

I adopt a hands on approach to teaching. After explaining the principles behind an equation, grammar rule, literary technique, etc., I give my students examples. When necessary, I walk students through each problem, until my students can fully understand the steps of the process on their own.

I'm an NYU graduate with professional writing experience, high SAT scores, and lots of desire to help students learn. I'm also CBEST certified. I love getting to know students and developing a relationship of trust and understanding.

Algebra 1

I can help with balancing equations, solving equations, inequalities, linear equations, graphing lines, point-slop form, slop-intercept form, probability, exponents, order of operations

Algebra 2

Do you need help with multiplying and dividing exponents, graphing parabolas or solving equations? I'd love to teach you the basics of algebra II, from graphing polynomials to factoring complex equations and imaginary numbers. I love math and I'm very patient with all my students.

Chemistry

Need help learning the difference between a metal and a non-metal? Confused about valence electrons and the stable octet? You're in luck! Chemistry is much easier than it seems with a dedicated tutor-- I offer chemistry and SAT II chemistry help!

Geometry

Geometry is so different than algebra that many students struggle to make the transition. Both require the mastery of equations and formulas, but for geometry, there are many more formulas to memorize! I can help with area, volume, angles, lines, apothems, and more.

Reading

Are you struggling with reading new vocabulary words, understanding what you read, or pronouncing words? I can help turn your confusion into a lifetime love of reading. I'm an avid reader with a keen understanding of literary techniques and reading comprehension. I can help by reading passages with you. I encourage active reading by asking comprehension based questions as we read.

Writing

I can help with foundational grammar, spelling, and writing skills to perfect your ability to compose well-researched essays. I'd also be happy to help with creative writing, copywriting, screenwriting, or business correspondence.

Java

Let's create some object oriented programs! I can teach use Java from the very beginning. I start by introducing variables and print subroutines--the building blocks of any Java program. Every lesson, I expand on our previous assignment and move into math subroutines, if/else statements, arrays, and imported classes. I love watching new programers burst with excitement as they see the computer execute their program correctly!

The SAT covers arithmetic, algebra I and II, trigonometry, and geometry. There are so many different problems, it can be hard to know where to start! SAT Reading

The SAT is a difficult and stressful test. The best way to ease jitters is with preparation. Practice your critical reading with sample tests, reading exercises, and detailed test-taking strategies to help you increase your chance to find the best answer. We'll cover every type of question on the test, basic reading comprehension strategies, and building vocabulary in the hopes of getting the best score possible.

ACT English

Standardized tests aren't always a bundle of fun, but they can be a stress-free occasion. I can teach you grammar rules, vocabulary, and tricks to pick all the best answers, whether they deal with improving sentences, reading comprehension, or word choice.

ACT Math

The ACT covers pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, and trigonometry. It's a lot to remember! Together, we focus on enhancing the building blocks of these subjects- solving equations, fraction rules, finding volume and area, angles, equations of lines, exponents, and sin/cosin - one step at a time.

Swimming

Swimming is a fun way to get exercise and an important skill for water safety!

I spent my childhood competing on the summer swim team (from age 7 to 17). During the 2005, 2006, and 2007 summers, I worked as an assistant coach for the College Park Splash. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need.
