I am a lifelong teacher regardless of the particular assignment or circumstances. I have taught at Loyola, Northwestern and DePaul. My jobs have taken me over many years to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, etc.

I also play in a banjo band regularly and enjoy music generally, from folk to grand opera.

American History

History has always been my favorite subject. To me, understanding the past gives valuable clues about the present and improves the the odds of being correct in making predictions about the future.

Vocabulary

As an avid reader, writer and practicing lawyer, I have developed a broad vocabulary that I can draw on to assist the student in broadening their own vocabulary. My foreign language skills also help me in explaining the nuances and various meanings of many words in the vast vocabulary of the English language.

European History

History is my favorite subject. Knowing the past is the best guide to understanding the present and greatly improves the odds of success in making prediction about the future.

Geography

I have been interested in geography since childhood and have been fortunate in actually visiting all but one of the 50 United States as well as much of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, India and elsewhere. I can bring a broad perspective to the teaching of geography.

Government & Politics

As part of my law practice background, I have participated in the legislative process at the state and federal level. Locally I have also participated in aldermanic and other electoral campaigns. I can bring a "hands on" perspective to the subject in contrast to the usual textbook unreality.

World History

History is my favorite subject. Knowing the past is the best guide for understanding the present and is indispensable for making reasonable judgments about the future. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled extensively abroad and can bring that experience to bear in tutoring about world history.
