I have been teaching for close to 18 years, nearly all grades K-12.
I have a varied background. My undergraduate degree (BA) is in theater and political science. I spent my junior year abroad in England. For two months of that time I lived on a Kibbutz in Israel. During my senior year I interned as a lobbyist in the Minnesota Legislature.
My graduate degree (MFA) is in theater performance, which is an amalgam of acting, writing and directing. Upon graduation I started my own theater company in San Francisco, which I managed for several years until I moved to Los Angeles where I now teach English, write screenplays and theatrical reviews and perform improvisational comedy.
In addition to teacher, I have been a nanny, cocktail waitress, technical writer, narrator, taxi driver and more.
Because of my many years of teaching and my diverse background I have learned which aspects of academic life are carried into everyday life and which aspects are seemingly superfluous.
I have also developed the most effective ways of teaching key concepts. I have created and compiled a plethora of samples, outlines and graphic organizers to assist.
I look forward to sharing my expertise and improvisational humor with you.
