Hi!
I'm Vincent, a recent graduate of Harvard University who moved to Los Angeles a few months ago. I've had lots of experience tutoring a wide variety of math subjects. I've done in-home tutoring in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. Not only that, but I've worked professionally as a group tutor for first-year college Physics.
Prior to getting my graduate degree at Harvard, I attended Pomona College in Claremont, CA, where I earned a 3.8 GPA. While at Pomona I was able to manage getting a double-major in Mathematics and Theatre, which is no easy feat, as it requires you to complete the requirements for each major with absolutely no overlap. Thankfully, I had taken two years of college mathematics at Harvey Mudd College while still in high school, which enabled me to complete my double-major and still study abroad my entire junior year of college. In addition to my two years of math at Harvey Mudd, I also completed an entire year of college physics and a semester of college biology, all while enrolled in high school!
My record of academic achievement proves that I have the knowledge your student needs to succeed in school. But I consider success at school to be more than mere learning by rote. Real comprehension requires an enjoyment of the subject matter at hand. And that's what I hope most to instill in your student. Math and Science are far more than a collection of Byzantine formulas, even though it might be hard to realize that from the way many teachers approach the material. Instead, Math and Science are keys that let us access the sheer joy of understanding. By couching problem sets in a puzzle-solving framework, drawing parallels to real world applications, and helping your student see the larger picture, I will enable them to go beyond understanding the material to enjoying the entire process of learning.
