Creating an appropriate and interesting course outline initiates a high level of expectation in order to challenge a student. Assessing a student's level of competence is essential in order to develop specific teaching strategies. Demonstrating how lesson plans, focused on specific language skills and integrated with grammatical structures, can provide the necessary academic approach for a student to understand and retain material. Consistent grading and reviewing of homework, quizzes and exams enables the teacher and faculty to closely monitor and evaluate a student's advancement in the course and ultimate success in literacy. Emphasizing that studying ESL is a full commitment, which can prove to be quite beneficial by empowering a student in pursuit of building linguistic confidence, achieving accent reduction and substantially assimilating to American culture.
I have over eight years of experience teaching adults as an ESL instructor in Los Angeles, California. I have been a Tutor for Professional Tutors of America in Los Angeles. I have also had experience of tutoring in English adults as well as children while living in Toulouse, France. I obtained a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Linguistics and French in 1991 from UCLA and I am proud to proclaim myself fluent in French. In addition, I just recently had the pleasure of teaching English to a group of students from Brazil and Spain for the Junior Program developed by Converse International School of Languages at Loyola Marymount University.
Thank you for your anticipated consideration to provide you with my professional expertise.
