My name is Walter, 25 years old. I graduated from the University of Portland in 2009 with a degree in Political Science and Spanish and competed as an NCAA Division One athlete in the sport of Basketball. I am from West Los Angeles, fluent in English, Spanish, German, and graduated from Venice High School in 2004.
My tutoring career started as peer mentor/tutor in High School and continued through college in the Portland area for middle school and high school students. Since 2009 I have served as a mentor and tutor for students in the community of Venice. Tutored in History, English, Writing, Reading skills, Writing skills and Sports. I am currently taking classes at UCLA and will be available to tutor until August. I have been playing professional Basketball in Latin America and traveling around the world since graduating in 2009 as well as studying for the LSAT.
I was told about the chance to tutor through a friend and I found that it could be a rewarding experience to be able to help young people achieve their educational goals. I come from a very educated family, both of my parents are Professors at the University level, so I know what it takes to accomplish and set to out to achieve academic success. My tutoring methods are very simple. I believe that every student has an untapped source of potential, sometimes all young people need is a way to find motivation and guidance. Through hard work, positive energy and a collective effort there can be a great deal of success for any student. I am in my mid twenties so I know how to relate to younger students on a very genuine level.
Currently live in West Los Angeles, in the Mar Vista area. I have access to a car and willing to drive to any location. Looking to hear from any students and families who are ready to excel and enjoy the educational experience of being tutored. Cheers!
Walter
