Student Feedback for Scott

"Excellent Tutor!"

- Karen from Los Angeles, CA

Scott arrives for our tutoring sessions extremely well prepared. He is able to explain difficult concepts and keeps the content interesting. My grades have improved and I plan to continue to work with Scott through the next couple years. I would highly recommend Scott.

"A poor and not proffesionally oriented tutur!"

- Al from Pasadena, CA

I hired Mr Scott's tuturing services while my child was earning a "C" in his high school physics class, after ~ 4 months of tuturing by Mr Scott W and getting highly paid, my child's final grade instead of improving, dropped to "F". Myself being a senior engineering prof at local universities, made numerous requests, advises and technical recommendations, but unfortunately didn't implement apropreately. I think Mr Scott W failed to help my child to succeed, and does not get a passing grade from me in physics. I do not recommend him for tuturing "physics" at all.

Scott replied on 5/8/2013:

Per your instructions, your child and I reviewed as much material as we had time for every time we met. He seldom did his assigned review problems, which was his responsibility. I assigned review problems regularly, per your instructions, but he rarely made time to do them. This detracted from my ability to make progress helping him to shore up his fundamentals. I quizzed your son every time I saw him on the material he was covering in class, by asking him to do problems related to the material. This was also per your instructions. He regularly performed well when I quizzed him on the current material of his class. I tried my best to improve his study habits, helping him make flashcards of all his important & difficult equations, as well as for vocabulary. I reminded him to study these flashcards diligently, numerous times, even while he was on Spring Break. It was his responsibility to follow through with studying on his own time. I tried my best to help your son understand his homework assignments so that he could complete them, or so that we could complete them together. For each problem we worked out together, I quizzed him on which equation to use, what variables were given, which variable to solve for, and how to do the math to solve. I felt he understood the material when he could perform these steps correctly. He usually performed well with problems I asked him to do in lessons, and he claimed to understand whatever material we were covering. I have only seen your son twice since before his Spring break - twice in almost 2 months. I have not seen him with any regularity since mid-March. It is almost impossible to improve a student's grade if the tutor sees the student only once a month. I am very sorry that I did not meet your expectations. I hope that I have responded appropriately by informing you of the steps I tried to take to help your son improve his physics grade.

"Wonderful math tutor."

- Rachelle from Los Angeles, CA

I worked with Scott for 2 weeks before taking the GRE for the second time. My goal was to boost my math score and I knew that it would be hard with such little time. He was very patient with me and was able to explain concepts to me in multiple ways until I understood. You can tell from the first session how smart he is and it really builds your confidence in him when he breaks down complicated issues for you. My math score improved so much that I am keeping my score! I would definitely recommend working with him.

"I now like math!"

- Asia from Los Angeles, CA

With Scott’s support, I learned arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and basic statistics for the GRE. After being away from math class for seven years, I quickly prepared for the GRE’s quantitative reasoning in six sessions with Scott. His teaching is highly effective and results oriented. As someone who dreaded math class in high school, I can now say, “I like math.” Thank you Scott!

"Great GRE prep tutor"

- Adam from Los Angeles, CA

The tutoring session with Scott helped me develop a study plan for the GRE. Scott knows the GRE and was able to give me clear advice to make my studying more efficient. He came prepared and was patient with my questions.

"Terrific Chemistry Tutor"

- Randi from Alhambra, CA

Scott is very flexible and able to accommodate my daughter's need for sessions at various hours of the day. He's very thorough with the material and she has much more confidence and mastery of the Chemistry material now than before working with Scott. He has been a big help to her. Thank you Scott. Keep up the good work!

"Great tutor! "

- Miranda from San Jose, CA

Scott is a great tutor! He was very patient and helped me to improve my GRE score significantly over a 2-month period.

"Great college chemistry tutor!"

- Ashley from Los Angeles, CA

I struggled to find someone qualified to help me with my college general chemistry 2 class and had several failed meetings in which the "qualified" tutor couldn't help me. I finally came across Scott, who was able to help me with my homework and prepare for the tests. He is very knowledgeable and smart. I recommended him!

"Extremely patient and thorough review"

- Melody from Playa Del Rey, CA

Scott has provided two sessions. I feel the first session was a high level review of the topics that would need future review. I initially ranked it a 4star session. In hindsight, it should have been a 5 star! The second session was about filling in the weaknesses and I am very impressed with Scott's ability to bring his level of knowledge and understanding of algebra down to an 8th grade level and make it understandable. The feedback from my daughter was "Scott explained things way better than my teacher and I totally get it now" needless to say I am a very pleased mom. Scott has also provided two sessions to my son who is in Geometry. Scott has been able to identify the areas where my son needs to work harder and assign sections in his book for specific review. He was able to keep my son focused and on task while remaining patient and teaching areas that were not adequately covered by my son's school teacher. I am very pleased with Scott's performance and would highly recommend him. I plan on continuing with Scott over the summer to work on study techniques for high schoolers and then over the next academic year to work on chemistry algebra 2 and geometry.

"Awesome Tutor"

- Naris from Glendale, CA

Scott is a brilliant and very knowledgeable tutor, with excellent language skills. He stepped in to help my daughter with her Honors Chemistry final. He was very well prepared and took every possible step to make sure my daughter understood the material. My validation came when my daughter said: “Scott explained it better than my Chemistry teacher ever did.” I highly recommend Scott for anyone seeking tutoring help with Chemistry.

"Great Tutor"

- Akira from Hermosa Beach, CA

Comes prepared and is good at making you understand what you need to know. Made great improvements on tests after only one lesson.

"Greatly recommended for chemistry "

- Norma from Downey, CA

Very good tutor. He helped me a lot and really knew what he was taking about. He traveled to my side of town which was even better! Was available at any time I needed him which really allowed me to trust and rely on him for help. Definitely recommend him and I myself will further reach out to him for help in the near future.

"Excellent Tutor"

- Tina from La Mirada, CA

Scott is an excellent tutor. He is extremely passionate, knowledgeable, sharp and patient. We are lucky to have Scott to tutor my daughter. She is learning a lot. We appreciate your service, Scott!

"Simply Great."

- Steven from Studio City, CA

Scott has been an excellent tutor in helping me out with Chemistry Honors, displaying great patience when I constantly forget or don't understand any of my problems. He understands every single concept on my course and taught them in an organized manner, going back and re-explaining if I did not comprehend the material, approaching it in a different way until I did. I am able to actually understand many of the labs and problems assigned to me due to Scott's immense help, and I believe making Scott my tutor was an amazing choice.

"Great tutor with lots of patience!"

- Lisa from Bellflower, CA

Scott tutored our daughter in both chemistry and geometry, and helped her understand fundamentals in both subjects. He explained difficult concepts with plenty of pictures and notes for her to keep, which we really appreciated. We are very pleased with his services.

"Great Tutor!"

- Rosie from Inglewood, CA

Scott was a really good tutor for me. He was not very familiar with the subject matter, but has excellent reasoning skills and was able to help me put the pieces together for almost every problem and concept that I could not understand. If given enough info, even about stuff that isn't his specialty, he can get you through it. That's pretty incredible!

"Great GRE tutor with good availability "

- Sara from Los Angeles, CA

Scott tutored me in the math portion for the GRE, he's very good. He taught me from scratch because I hadn't done math in 8 years. At times I asked him to slow down for me, he adjusts to your needs.

"THE BEST!"

- Edgar from Downey, CA

Scott put in a lot of extra effort and time to make sure that I received the best possible grade. He made efficient use of time and I learned a lot! I can't wait for my presentation.

"Very patient and knowledgeable"

- Hector from Los Angeles, CA

Scott helped me understand concepts about history and science in a way that made me feel confident about my knowledge. I appreciated his personal approach and his flexibility.

"excellent!"

- Lorena from Lynwood, CA

I am very happy that Scott was able to help me better understand my Algebra 1 homework. I was most surprised and excited to receive my grade on my second test was 15 points higher than the first. I will definitely be arranging another session with Scott.

"Very helpful!"

- Christy from Tujunga, CA

Scott did a very good job and breaking down chemistry problems in a way that I could understand it. I have never felt as confident going into an exam as I did after meeting with him..
